Susie McKinnon spent a number of years in the private sector as a sales, marketing and media production professional before she realized her calling to serve and support mission driven objectives. Since that intersection, Susie has worked in the nonprofit sector developing, implementing and assessing programs and projects that offer solutions to underserved communities and populations, and has done so for over 10 years. In 2009, Susie was introduced to the Mid-Market and Tenderloin Neighborhoods as a consultant developing, overseeing and managing a weekly community engagement event and platform in United Nations Plaza. Since that time she has worked on a number of other programs, projects and events focused on inviting positive activities to increase community engagement and promotion; these include the 24 Days of Central Market Arts Festival, Epicenter-SF.org website, Central Market Now program and more. Susie worked as both Associate and Interim Executive Director for the North of Market / Tenderloin Community Benefit District overseeing a range of services and projects focused on improving the quality of life in the Tenderloin.

In her work of the last five years, she is most passionate about collaborating and partnering with individuals and organizations to establish connections that leverage resources, knowledge and creative energy to facilitate positive change and healthier neighborhoods.

She serves as a Board Member for SAFEhouse for the Performing Arts and an Advisory Member and Steward for Arts for a Better Bay Area. Susie holds a BFA in Fine Art and Digital Communications from San Jose State University and a Master’s in Public Administration and Policy from San Francisco State University.
