Ben Goorin

Goorin Bros.
President and CEO
Ben Goorin is President and CEO of Goorin Bros., the fourth-generation family-owned business started by his great-grandfather in 1895. Since taking over as CEO in 2006, Ben has helmed Goorin Bros.’ transformation from a traditional wholesale business to a retail powerhouse and industry leader in fashion and design, having opened over 30 Goorin Bros. shops in the U.S. and Canada during his tenure.

Ben officially joined Goorin Bros. upon graduating from the University of Pacific in 1991. His father was preparing to close down the business, and encouraged Ben to pursue other professions. Excited by the resurgence of hats as a mainstream fashion staple, however, Ben envisioned a different future for the company. He pored through the Goorin archives, fascinated by the rich cultural history of the family business, and honed his understanding of the artisan craft of hat making.

He worked in product and design before serving as Brand and Marketing Manager from 1995¬–1998, and then VP of Sales and Operations from 1999–2005. With the goal of reviving the bygone American tradition of the neighborhood hat shop, Ben took over as CEO in 2006, seizing the opportunity to significantly expand the Goorin Bros.’ retail presence when the recession hit in 2007.

Having rebuilt the company’s strategy in product development, branding, and marketing, Ben takes great pride in having transformed Goorin Bros. into a ubiquitous global hat brand while adhering to the authentic artisanship cultivated by his great-grandfather more than a century ago.

Today Ben resides in San Francisco with his wife, Carrie, and three children, Cassi, Jonah and Zev. He can frequently be found in any of the Goorin Bros. retail locations, nationwide.
